A mansion in Alpine, New Jersey, sold for $17.7 million last week. The sale broke records as the priciest home purchase in Bergen County since 2023. Sitting on two acres in Rio Vista, the seven-bedroom property goes by Chateau de la Roche.
This sale outshone other big deals in Alpine. It topped 4 Stone Tower Drive's $16.7 million price tag from July 2024. The mansion also beat 15 Stone Tower Drive's $12 million mark set in January 2023. At 12 Rio Vista Drive, the property now stands as the most expensive sale in New Jersey's Multiple Listing Service in three years.
"From its inception, every detail was carefully considered to create a truly world-class residence," said Denise Albanese of Christie's International Real Estate Group, according to Daily Voice. "It's been a privilege to bring the home to market and now to secure such a historic result for our clients, Alpine, and for New Jersey."
Built in 2017, this grand house mixes old-world charm with new comforts. Inside, you'll find 10.5 bathrooms, a movie room that seats 15, two bars, and a wine storage space. The property stands out with its two indoor pools. For relaxation, owners can use the sauna, steam room, spa, outdoor pool, or spend time in the glass-walled garden room.
Albanese played two key roles with the property. First, she picked the inside look, materials, and color schemes before building started. Later, she came back as the agent who sold the house.
The sale brought together top names in real estate. Richard Orlando and Jason Pierce from Prominent Properties Sotheby's worked with Taylor Lucyk of Christie's to help the buyer.
Just half an hour from Manhattan, the house sits in one of America's most expensive areas. Christie's mixed local market smarts with worldwide reach to find the right buyer, setting a new price record.
