Camden's annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration kicks off Sept. 26 at Roosevelt Plaza Park. From 4 to 8 p.m., the space near City Hall fills with music, tastes, and traditions: all without cost to visitors.

Two local acts will fill the air with rhythm at 520 Market St. Combo Melaza brings their spicy beats, while Manny y Los Brothers Band adds their own flair. Hungry guests can sample dishes at various stands, with La Ingrata serving up specialties straight from Puebla and Mexico City.

"It's a great chance for the public, if you're not familiar with certain cultures or certain traditions to come on out, learn a little more," said city spokesman Vincent Basara, according to NJ Advance Media.

This gathering marks a decade of celebrating Camden's Hispanic roots. Census data from 2020 shows Hispanic residents make up 53% of the city's population. Local groups will staff information tables, sharing stories and customs with guests.

Through beats, bites, and displays, the festival connects people while showing off the city's Hispanic spirit. Visitors get a taste of different traditions as they mix and mingle.

Rain won't stop the fun: the North Camden Community Center at 1000 N. 6th St. stands ready as a backup spot.

Whether you live in Camden or nearby, this free four-hour fest welcomes all. No tickets needed: just show up ready to soak in the sights, sounds and flavors of Hispanic culture.
