Latin music stars will light up Newark's Clinton Avenue Soundstage at the South Ward Rumba Latina Festival on Sept. 27. The free show kicks off at 2 p.m., running until 7 p.m. at 450 Clinton Ave.
Working side by side, South Ward Councilman Patrick O. Council and Mayor Ras J. Baraka created this Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. Their goal? To shine a spotlight on the city's rich Latino traditions.
Fresh from winning the Premio Soberano award, Los Hermanos Moreno brings their electric salsa sound. Brothers Nelson and Oscar started their musical path in Hoboken, crafting a unique take on traditional beats.
Powerhouse performers La Sonora Dinamita will command the main stage. Since the 1960s, their infectious rhythms have won hearts worldwide, with smash hits "Mi Cucu" and "La Vela Encendida" still moving crowds today.
Adding spice to the mix, Shino Aguakate steps up with bachata and reggaetón flair. When he's not hosting his popular radio show he's blending beats that get people dancing. Between acts, DJ Commandante keeps the party going strong.
But music's just the start. Medical staff will offer quick health checks on site. Schools will share info about their programs too.
Want to make life better in Newark? Stop by the community service booths. They're packed with tips about health, wellness, and ways to boost your family's daily life.
Think your group should be there? Call Councilman Council's office at 973-733-3753 to ask about booth space or lending a hand.
The Clinton Avenue Soundstage sits in the heart of Newark's South Ward. With no cost to enter, everyone can jump in and catch the beat of Latin culture this weekend.
