A virtual workshop at Middlesex College will teach food business owners about funding and kitchen space on Oct. 23. The free Zoom session starts at 11 a.m. and runs for 90 minutes.

Attendees will discover ways to access grants and loans through state programs. The New Jersey Economic Development Authority and Commission on Science Innovation and Technology will outline their funding programs. Small Business Development Centers will share their support services.

South Amboy Kitchen LLC will present their commercial kitchen rental program. Small food businesses can cook in these spaces instead of spending big money on their own facilities.

Representatives from the New Jersey Business & Industry Association will break down benefits packages. They'll cover key topics like payroll systems, retirement options, and health coverage choices for staff.

The event brings together five expert speakers. Each brings specific knowledge to help food entrepreneurs succeed. Sarabjit Sawhney will discuss kitchen rentals, while Kathy Guzman tackles state funding. Wayne Staub plans to address business benefits. Lilian Mauro and Judith Sheft round out the panel with tips on growth and innovation.

With three weeks until the workshop, spots remain open. Sign-ups continue through the county's official Zoom portal at no cost.

This marks a first-time collaboration between these state organizations. Food business owners can now access multiple resources in one streamlined session.

The workshop runs Thursday, Oct. 23, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interested owners should visit the Middlesex County website to register.
