A fresh Wawa site opens its doors at 1095 Route 1 this morning at 8 a.m. Customers can grab free coffee until Oct. 5, while special $6 meal packages mark the start of business.
Early birds who make up the first hundred visitors will snag free shirts. The $6 special bundles a Shorti sandwich, drink, and chips, running through mid-October.
Soccer star Luis Robles joins store chief Thomas Sottnick for the morning countdown at 7:45 ,a.m. Staff members will march at 8:30 a.m., showing off meal specials in a quick parade.
Local heroes step up to compete: Edison's police face off against firefighters in a fast-paced sandwich assembly challenge. The store's feathered friend Wally Goose stands by for the big ribbon cut.
Inside, workers craft fresh food and drinks to order. Visitors find hot coffee, warm pastries, and custom drinks. The site pumps gas and stocks everyday items, plus handles group food orders.
This marks another step forward in New Jersey for the chain. From its Pennsylvania roots, Wawa now runs about 300 shops across the state, part of its 1,100-strong network in the Northeast.
“Wawa is proud to open its doors to provide trusted quality products, convenience, new jobs, support, and to Fulfill Lives in the community,” according to a released statement, per NJ 101.5.com.
Since its first shop opened in Folsom back in '64, Wawa keeps growing. Plans call for 70 new spots next year, pushing toward 1,800 shops across the country by 2030.
The chain just cut ribbons in Pennsville last week. Edison's other two spots keep busy on Route 1 and Woodbridge Avenue, serving local customers daily.
