A new food truck brings fresh meals to Atlantic City residents in need. The 26-foot vehicle, launched on Oct. 15 by Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties, serves up to 100 people per stop with its built-in coolers and storage space.

With backing from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, the truck stocks fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, and basic pantry items. It stops at key spots, like Atlantic Cape Community College and medical centers, throughout the week.

"The new mobile food pantry access provides stronger food security in Atlantic City while offering essential wraparound services," said Andrea Steinberg, JFS CEO, according to Downbeach.com.

At the launch, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa pitched in $100,000 plus 2,000 kits with basic supplies. "We were thrilled at the opportunity to partner with Jewish Family Service, an organization that plays such a vital role in supporting our community," said Niklas Rytterstrom, Borgata President and COO.

Unlike standard food banks, this truck lets people pick what they want. The smart setup cuts waste: families take home food they'll eat, not just what they're given.

Need food on weekdays? The main JFS spot in Margate stays open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Their online system tracks what's in stock. People can set up accounts, list what foods they need, and pick times to come by.

State food security expert Jemmell'z Washington-Rock praised the work. "The Atlantic City community knows its own strengths and assets, including its people. This mobile unit and the multisector partnerships that put this vehicle on the road offer families and individuals a solution to stretch their household budgets further."

To keep the truck stocked, JFS aims to raise $250,000. Local groups like the Community FoodBank and The Morgan Families have already stepped up to help.
