Starting this, crews are ripping out buried trolley tracks from Main Street in South River, New Jersey. This marks the start of a major street upgrade by Middlesex County workers.
The project tackles several issues at once. Workers will remove the deteriorating steel tracks that damage the road surface. They'll install ADA-compliant ramps, fix broken sidewalks, and add fresh asphalt to County Route 535.
Construction will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays only. This massive undertaking will stretch across 300 workdays, pushing completion into next year.
The construction will slow traffic down. Police want drivers to pick different streets when possible, keeping the work zone clear.
