After a mail theft around Sept. 24, 2025, that disrupted ballot delivery, Middlesex County has begun sending new ballots to affected voters across New Jersey.

The theft might have stopped some voters from getting their Sept. 22, 2025, ballots. Taking no chances, the County Clerk sent replacement ballots to each address in question.

Those who haven't cast votes should fill out and return the new ballot. Anyone who has already voted must discard the second ballot they receive.

Strong safeguards block any chance of double voting, the clerk stressed. Staff members scan each returned ballot through a verification process that catches duplicates.

The Postal Service admitted to the theft in writing. Postmaster Greg Ferris told customers about mail disruptions and expressed regret for the problems.

"USPS is committed to restoring reliable mail service," Ferris wrote in the letter, according to Shore News Network
