Jersey Mike’s Opening First Cape May Location, Four More Coming Statewide

Jersey Mike's will open a new location in Cape May Court House on Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. This is the first store in Cape May County. Four more locations are coming soon in Hillsdale, Short Hills, Springfield, and Wharton.
A ribbon cutting will take place at 9 a.m. before opening. Brian Valois owns and runs the new shop.
"I'm really excited and nervous. This has been a three-year process," said Valois, according to NJ.com.
The building used to be a T-Mobile store. It sits beside an Acme supermarket and an Urgent Care clinic at The Plaza.
The Middle Township School District organized a fundraiser tied to the grand opening. The shop is selling 5,000 gift cards at $3 each. Money raised goes to the school district. Each card also gets the buyer one free sub.
The sandwich chain started in Point Pleasant. It now runs 144 locations throughout New Jersey. The company operates 3,072 stores across America, with 297 more being built.
Peter Cancro began working at the original store in 1975 when he was 14 years old. That Point Pleasant business opened in 1956 under the name Mike's Subs. Peter Cancro purchased the business at age 17. He started franchising in 1987 under the name Jersey Mike's Subs.
The chain opened 350 spots nationwide in 2024 and 2025. Next year, they plan to open as many as 450 locations. The company aims to hit 5,000 stores in a couple of years and up to 10,000 stores down the road.
The new Cape May Court House is located at 11 Court House South Dennis Road and will run from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The shop provides takeout and dine-in service.
