Monmouth County officials and the MonmouthNJ 250 Committee have released a School Program Guide to help schools take part in America's 250th anniversary celebration on July 4, 2026. Schools across the county can access this free resource.

The guide includes ideas crafted for schools. It lists resources available at the local, state and federal levels. Teachers will find a checklist on ways to get started. A free downloadable flipbook version exists online at MonmouthNJ250.org.

"A key focus of our programming is inspiring and involving our young people," said Christine G. Hanlon, Monmouth County Clerk and Co-Chair of the MonmouthNJ 250 Committee, per The Monmouth Journal Eastern. "We have developed a wide range of materials and activities designed to help students explore Monmouth County's vital role in the American Revolution — from our coloring and history booklets to student poetry and essay contests, and interactive experiences featured at fairs and festivals throughout the county."

"To support schools in joining the celebration, we are pleased to share our newest resource: the MonmouthNJ 250 School Program Guide, filled with ideas and inspiration for educators and administrators as they plan their own Semiquincentennial activities," said Tom Arnone, Director of the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners and Co-Chair of the MonmouthNJ 250 Committee. "We encourage all Monmouth County schools, grades K–12, to take part in honoring this extraordinary chapter of our nation's history."

The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners established the MonmouthNJ 250 Committee in 2023. This gave them time to begin preparations for the 250th anniversary, which will shine a light on the county's role in the American Revolution.

More information about the committee and events surrounding America's 250th birthday is available at MonmouthNJ250.org. The committee also has accounts on Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn at @MonmouthNJ250.
