The first planes between Atlantic City and Fort Lauderdale take off Dec. 11. Orlando/Sanford service starts Dec. 19. Then Punta Gorda and St. Pete-Clearwater get added Feb. 13.
Skytrax gave the company a big honor last year and this year too. They named it North America's best low-cost airline. Over 22 million people answered questions for that survey, making it the biggest customer satisfaction poll in the world.
This award shows how well the company treats its customers, according to SimpleFlying.com. The timing? Pretty good, since they're about to open shop at the New Jersey airport.
Back in 1997, this airline started with a different name — WestJet Express. Things got rough. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2000 but came back stronger. Now they fly mostly to smaller airports across the country.
Spirit Airlines has been the lone player at Atlantic City International Airport for years when it comes to scheduled passenger flights. Next month, that changes.
December brings two Florida spots to travelers at this airport. February adds two more. That gives people four ways to reach the Sunshine State from South Jersey.
