Red Bank will waive parking fees starting Dec. 11 and running until Dec. 26. This move targets holiday shoppers and restaurant-goers who might skip downtown without the incentive.
"Enjoy the free gift of parking available Dec. 11–26 while you enjoy Red Bank for your holiday shopping needs and make special merry memories!" the borough said in an online post, per Patch.com.
Shoppers can browse stores without feeding meters or scanning apps. Diners won't pay to park while grabbing dinner. The window spans two weeks, covering key shopping days before Christmas.
Several happenings coincide with the parking break. A Menorah Lighting ceremony takes place Dec. 18 at Riverside Gardens Park.
Dec. 26 kicks off a Year-End Sale & Celebration. The Count Basie Center for the Arts has scheduled performances on multiple December dates.
Municipal lots and street spots downtown fall under the waiver. Borough leaders want more foot traffic passing storefronts and restaurant windows during peak season.
Details about the program appear on the Borough of Red Bank Facebook page. Many municipalities have rolled out similar strategies to pull crowds into commercial districts.
Retailers could see upticks in walk-ins. Restaurants might fill more tables. The two-week span removes a barrier that sometimes keeps people away.
The Count Basie Center maintains its show calendar while parking stays free. Visitors attending performances can skip the usual meter hunt.
Officials encourage both residents and out-of-towners to check out what's available. Every municipal parking space in the core district qualifies under the offer.
