Submit Your Hudson County Sports Hall of Fame Nominations by Jan. 31

Hudson County residents can submit names for the 2026 Sports Hall of Fame. The deadline is Jan. 31, 2026.

County Executive Craig Guy announced when submissions close for this program that honors athletes who reached the top tiers of competition.

"Our athletes inspire us all. From the fields and courts of Hudson County to the world stage, their dedication brings our communities together," said Craig Guy in a statement, according to Insider NJ. "We encourage residents to submit nominations for the Hudson County Sports Hall of Fame by Jan. 31, 2025 for themselves, family members, friends, or coaches and help celebrate the incredible achievements happening right here at home."

This program started back in 1991. It honors men and women who spent years honing their abilities and competed at top-tier events like the Olympic Trials, Boxing World Championships, the National Football League, and the National Basketball Association.

The ceremony happens once every two years. Fall of 2026 will bring the next event.

Those nominated must have spent at least two years in the county during high school, grades 9 through 12. Applicants need to provide a title, biography, remarks, headshots, and a list of what they accomplished in high school, at a college or university, and in any professional setting. Each accomplishment requires one of these documents: photocopies of newspaper articles, certificates, yearbooks, annual awards, dinner programs, or congratulatory letters.

The 2024 dinner and induction took place on Oct. 2, 2024, at Saint Peter's University Duncan Family Sky Room. That year's inductees included men's college basketball coaches Danny and Bobby Hurley, plus former NFL player Kenny Britt.
