Library cardholders in Burlington, Camden, Atlantic, and Gloucester counties can check out books from any of the 40 libraries across these four South Jersey counties starting Jan. 1, 2026. The agreements eliminate interlibrary loan transfers between participating systems.

"We believe this exciting new regional partnership with our neighboring library systems will encourage residents in all four counties to sign up a library card and take advantage of the services all our libraries offer," said Ranjna Das, director of the Burlington County Library System, according to The Trentonian. "Burlington County is the largest county in New Jersey and many of our residents live close to the border or work in the other counties."

The partnership opens doors to 15 branch and member libraries in Burlington County. Eight sit in Camden County, six operate in Gloucester County, and 11 serve Atlantic County.

Burlington County facilities include:

  • The Main Branch in Westampton
  • Beverly Free Library
  • Bordentown Library
  • Cinnaminson Library

Camden County locations include:

  • Bellmawr
  • Downtown Camden
  • Ferry Avenue in Camden City
  • Gloucester Township
  • Haddon Township
  • Merchantville
  • South County in Atco
  • Voorhees

Gloucester County sites include:

  • Mullica Hill
  • Glassboro
  • Greenwich Township
  • Logan Township
  • Newfield
  • Swedesboro

Atlantic County facilities include:

  • Absecon
  • Brigantine
  • Buena Community Reading Center inside Buena High School
  • Egg Harbor City
  • Egg Harbor Township
  • Galloway
  • Hammonton
  • Mays Landing
  • Pleasantville
  • Somers Point
  • Ventnor

"These agreements are an easy way to expand the reach and value of a Burlington County Library System card, and it doesn't cost them or our library system a single cent," said Tom Pullion, Burlington County commissioner and liaison to the system.

The agreements exclude eBooks, streaming services, and other online resources. Cardholders outside Burlington County cannot access Wi-Fi hot spots, Chromebooks, museum passes, games, or other technology items. Borrowers must follow each county's rules regarding loan periods, borrowing limits, and overdue fines.

Burlington County and Camden County participated in a pilot program during 2024 with four North Jersey counties. "There wasn't much interest in extending the pilot with the four North Jersey counties, but we think reciprocal borrowing with neighboring county library systems in South Jersey can be beneficial," Das said.

Burlington County cardholders can also borrow materials from 22 libraries in Ocean County under a separate arrangement.
