The Monmouth County Park System will host National Seed Swap Day from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Freneau Woods Park Visitor Center in Aberdeen. This free gathering invites local gardeners to exchange vegetable, annual, perennial, and native seeds.

You can bring seeds to share. Pick any available seeds during the swap. Every person who attends will receive native wildflower seeds from the park system.

Gardeners should place their seeds in a sealed envelope or bag with a label that shows the plant name, year collected, and where it was bought or collected from. A photo of the plant is suggested but not required. Invasive species are not allowed.

Want to drop off seed submissions before the event? Bring them throughout January to the Huber Woods Environmental Center on Brown's Dock Road in Middletown.

This event gives community members a chance to share plant varieties and expand their gardens without spending money. Seed swaps let gardeners try new plants while passing along varieties they've grown successfully in their own yards.

For more information about National Seed Swap Day, call 732-872-2670. Details about the park system are available at www.MonmouthCountyParks.com or by calling 732-842-4000.
