Four lit pickleball courts will be constructed at John Adler Memorial Park at Challenge Grove in Cherry Hill. Groundbreaking happens soon and construction is scheduled to begin this summer.

The courts are coming to the Camden County park situated at Caldwell and Bortons Mill roads. Design work and permits are underway, according to county officials.

Pickleball blends tennis, badminton, and table tennis into one game. Players pick it up fast. People of all ages and fitness abilities can play, which explains why participation has exploded.

"Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the country, and is enjoyed by athletes of all ages and skill levels," said County Commissioner Colleen Bianco Bezich, according to Patch.com. "The Board of Commissioners are proud to support the creation of these new courts at Challenge Grove, which will increase access to the sport for residents throughout Camden County."

The site will offer more than places to play. A new pavilion with a connected walking path is planned with extra benches and parking lot improvements. These changes should make visits easier.

Participation has skyrocketed across the United States. Numbers confirm pickleball has become the nation's fastest-growing sport, attracting players from every background and skill bracket.

County residents will use these new courts. Camden County officials say the addition will give area residents better access to the game.

John Adler Memorial Park at Challenge Grove sits within Cherry Hill Township. It's been serving as a recreational spot for years.
