Women First Responders To Be Honored at March 27 Library Event in Forked River

The Ocean County Library Lacey Branch will host a program on March 27 honoring women first responders from the area.

The Ocean County Library Lacey Branch will host a program on March 27 honoring women first responders from the area. The event, titled Hometown Heroes: Women First Responders, will start at 10:30 a.m. Representatives from Lacey Township EMS and the Ocean County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit will be there.

The program happens during Women's History Month. Attendees will learn about the history of each participating department and what these first responders do. They'll see how different groups work together when serving the community.

According to Patch.com, participants can view emergency vehicles used in daily operations. An ambulance and a patrol car will be on display. EMS tools will also be shown.

The Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit will bring patrol dogs. Those who attend can meet the dogs and learn what they do.

All ages are welcome. Admission is free, but registration is required.

The branch sits at 10 East Lacey Road in Forked River.
