The South Brunswick Police Department will team up with Keep Middlesex Moving to host its second annual Bike Rodeo on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the South Brunswick Senior Center. It's free. All ages can attend.
Bring bikes and helmets to the center at 540 Ridge Road in Monmouth Junction. Kids and parents will learn about bicycle safety through games and hands-on activities.
What can you do there? Bike challenges test your skills. Pedestrian safety lessons teach you how to cross streets. Volunteers check helmets to make sure they fit right, and kids can decorate them with stickers and markers, according to Patch.com.
This marks the second year police have organized the rodeo. Officials want families to learn safe riding practices while having a good time together.
You should register ahead of time by calling the department at 732-329-4000, ext. 7476.
The police department posts updates on social media, too. Check those pages if you need more information.
Keep Middlesex Moving works with cops across the county to promote transportation safety. They run programs that teach safe biking and walking throughout Middlesex County.
The Senior Center gives organizers enough room for everything they've planned. Parking is available at the facility during the three-hour event.
Every participant must bring a bike and helmet. Without these, you can't join the activities. Safety checks make sure helmets fit correctly and work as they should for young riders.
At the decorating station, children can add their own style to helmets with colorful designs. Safety meets fun.
