The Monmouth County Park System will hold its annual Creative Arts Festival on Saturday, May 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00.p.m. at Thompson Park in Lincroft. Over 50 artists will show their work in pottery, painting, jewelry, and other crafts.

According to New Jersey Stage, the festival happens on the grounds around the Creative Arts Center and two old barns. Musicians on a Mission will sponsor live music. Pat Guadagno, Carolann Solebello, Dan Toye, Renee Maskin, Brian Molnar, and Rich Norman will perform.

Artists will demonstrate their skills throughout the day. Sandra Lupo will show how she makes jewelry. Karin Trunz will paint. Kristen Kunc will work on portrait painting, and Konstantin Zingerman will sculpt portraits. A new Pottery Challenge starts this year at the Creative Arts Center, with students competing using different pottery methods.

Kids can help paint a mural that everyone shares in making. They can also make crafts. Food trucks will sell meals and snacks.

The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners created the Park System in 1960. It now runs as the county's Open Space, Parks, and Recreation agency. Thompson Park sits at 805 Newman Springs Road in Lincroft, New Jersey.

Admission costs nothing. Parking is free. Those wanting more information can visit www.MonmouthCountyParks.com or call 732-842-4000. People with hearing impairment can use the TTY/TDD number: 711.
