Bergen County will host United We Serve Bergen from April 18 to 26. This countywide service week ties into America's 250th anniversary. Volunteers can work at food pantries, historic sites, and parks throughout the region.

County Executive James J. Tedesco III and the Board of Commissioners partnered with the Bergen 250 Initiative to create this program. Residents, students, corporate groups, civic organizations, schools, and businesses can all participate. They'll tackle service projects while getting sites ready for anniversary events.

"Bergen County has always stepped up when it matters most," Tedesco said, according to The Press Group.net. "As we prepare to celebrate America's 250th Anniversary, United We Serve is an opportunity to bring people together, give back to our communities, and put the values we're celebrating into action. This is about service, community, and making sure every resident has a chance to be part of this milestone."

Commissioner Tracy Zur believes the initiative turns commemoration into action. "It's about reconnecting with our neighbors and doubling down to support each other," Zur said. "As we remember that this began with 'We the People,' there's no better way to honor our past than by securing our future. Rolling up our sleeves to help each other and our community fortifies our civic foundation."

Volunteers have many options. Outdoor cleanups? Yes. Beautification efforts? Absolutely. Collection drives will support food pantries, veterans, and seniors. The week offers accessibility across the county, with different projects matching varied interests and schedules.

Students can earn community service hours through participation. Businesses and corporate partners are invited to build team-based volunteer efforts.

Organizations wanting to host a service project can sign up at unitedweservebergen.org. Residents looking to volunteer should visit the same site.
