St. Bartholomew School in East Brunswick gathered 1,200 boxes of cereal in a drive to help neighbors who face hunger. Students and families donated the boxes, which filled the hallways before being sent to area food pantries.

Why did students line the halls? Cereal boxes stretched from one end to the other. The sight showed what a community can do when it works as one.

The boxes toppled like dominoes after being arranged in rows. One by one they fell. This moment reminded everyone what happens when people join forces to help those around them.

Organizers picked cereal for a reason. Breakfast gets skipped more than any other meal, yet kids need it most, according to News 12 New Jersey.

Every donated box will go to food pantries nearby. These boxes will stock shelves and support families who need assistance.

Students teamed up with their families for this project. The work brought people from across town to tackle hunger problems affecting neighbors.

Area food pantries will receive the entire collection. The cereal will give families who use these services a way to feed their children breakfast.

This event proved students can create change in their town. The drive zeroed in on a specific problem organizers spotted.

Breakfast matters for young people. Many families can't provide this meal each day.

The donation fills a hole in what food pantries can offer. Cereal gives rushed families a fast breakfast choice.
